FAQ

An Amazing Experience! Floating is an experience of ultimate peace and relaxation in which you spend one hour in a private, specialized pod filled with 10” of water heated to resting skin temperature (93.5 degrees Fahrenheit) and infused with 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt, causing you to float effortlessly atop the water at near zero-gravity.

You bet! We use Micron Filtration, Ultra Violet Rays, and Ozone Generators to keep the water at its cleanest. Even better, our powerful filtration system runs 3 complete cycles between floats, providing our guests with the most sanitary environment possible.

You can bring your swim suit, but most people float in the nude. You are in your own private spa suite and will step right out of the shower into the float pod.

Definitely! Pregnant women have used floating to relieve the stress on their bodies for decades. They get significant relief from pain and muscle tension from the state of deep relaxation achieved from floating. If you’re in your first or third trimester, or are a high-risk pregnancy, please consult your physician before booking a float. For more information, see our page on “Floating & Pregnancy”.

Not a problem! Our float pod is spacious, 8’ long and 5’ wide, allowing you to put your arms over your head, out to your sides, or even sit up in the pod if necessary. The pod is not air-tight, so air circulates, and it’s more like floating in outer space than being in a confined area. Although many choose to float in complete darkness and silence, inside lighting and music (ours or yours) is available and at the control of the floater. Should you need to get out of the pod for any reason, just lift the lid and step out.

We provide sulfate-free shampoo, conditioner and body wash to prevent suds from occurring in the pod. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER OR BODY WASH. If you wear contacts, you should be prepared to remove them for your float. We offer a hair dryer in the restroom for your convenience, unless you plan to add a Blow Dry & Style in our salon to your service.

The float pod is only filled with 10” of water, and has such a high density of Epsom salt that any individual, large or small, will float like a cork atop the water. In fact, many people sleep restfully while in the float pod.

Nope. Epsom salt will inhibit the water from saturating your skin.

Similar to the Dead Sea, Epsom salt (Magnesium Sulfate) is a mineral which has been shown to help detoxify the body, strengthen the immune system, trigger the release of endorphins (happy chemicals), and provide relief for physical, mental, and emotional stress and fatigue.

Not much. You’ll be taking a shower in your private spa suite prior to your float session to cleanse your hair of any products, remove any make-up, and wash off any body lotions or oils. Don’t shave or wax a few hours before floating as the salt could irritate your skin. We provide Vaseline for small cuts or scrapes.

Wait. Try to eat a few hours before the float so you won’t need to use the restroom in the middle of your session. Also, try to avoid caffeine the day of your float so you’re not feeling jittery in the pod and can fully relax.

No, you will feel neither hot nor cold. The self-monitoring homeostatic tank continuously regulates the temperature of the water to 93.5 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the resting temperature of the surface of the skin, creating a feeling of truly floating in the air. For longer floats (90 minutes or more) we can ensure that the temperature remains regulated as we offer a dual heating system for our pod.

The deep mental relaxation initiated by floating allows the brain to produce a greater amount of theta waves, typically about 30-40 minutes into the float, which are accompanied by an increase in mental clarity, creativity, imagery, and memory. In addition, the release of the endorphins induces the feeling of elevated mood states which are effective in helping to alleviate anxiety, depression, and negative mental habits.

It’s up to you! We offer 60 and 90 minute float sessions. If you want to float any longer, let us know and we can work something out. We offer single floats as well as packages. (Online booking is not available for 90 minute sessions. Please call and we’ll be happy to schedule your float session for you.)

No matter what duration float you select, you will always have an additional 15 minutes added onto your service time (1/2 up front and 1/2 at the end) to allow for showering prior to and after your float.  PLEASE DO NOT LINGER IN THE FLOAT ROOM AFTER YOUR POST-SESSION SHOWER as we require another 15 minutes to prepare the room for our next Guest.  A hair dryer is available in the restroom should you not want to leave with wet hair, or indulge in our Float Express package and receive a Blow Dry & Style after your float.  Thanks for your consideration, and HAPPY FLOATING!!!

The more the better! The first float can be an amazing experience, but is just the tip of the ice burg. The more you do it the better it gets and the longer lasting the effects will be.
